Zeitgeist Offers $30,000 In Bounties For Polkadot Hackathon
We're inviting engineers to buidl with the Zeitgeist SDK

The Polkadot Global Hackathon is right around the corner, and Zeitgeist is proud to announce our involvement in this consequential engineering event! While being touted as the “North America version”, the hackathon is open to software developers from around the globe excluding just a few restricted nations (see which in the rules). And up for grabs is a prize pool of over $583,000 at last count!

Yes. You read that correctly, $583,000.

Registration for the hackathon, which is of course essential if you want to qualify for any of the prizes, is open right now, and closes on Monday 30 May at 5pm Pacific Time (23h59 UTC). Once your registration has been processed, you’ll get to work on any of the numerous bounty categories and then need to submit your final product by midnight on 11 July 00h00 PT (7am UTC).

We’re excited to be working with the Polkadot ecosystem for this hackathon, and are thrilled to offer three bounties valued at $10,000 each! The categories for these Zeitgeist bounties are as follows:

  1. Implement a governance solution using prediction markets.
    Prize: $10,000
Developers are to integrate “futarchy” as a form of governance for any project, app, or DAO. IE. Run and implement a governance decision based on prediction markets.
  2. Implement an element of prediction into an application.
    Prize: $10,000
Use prediction information to influence the direction of action taken within an app. For example: A game where the next move is determined by the resolution of prediction markets in real time.
  3. Integrate the Zeitgeist SDK in the most creative way.
    Prize: $10,000
Here we’re looking for developers who implement our Software Development Kit in a novel and innovative way.

If any of the above piques your interest, then we invite you to join us for a workshop with one of our software developers, Jørn Tangen, who will be explaining the basics of the Zeitgeist SDK. In the session, Jørn will cover subjects such as market deployment, liquidity provision, asset handling, and much more.

There are dozens of bounties on offer for the Polkadot Global Hackathon from the following categories:

  1. Interfaces and Experiences
  2. Web3 and Tooling
  3. DeFi
  4. NFTs
  5. DAO and Governance (the category of where you’ll find the Zeitgeist bounties)

Feel free to explore the numerous bounties on offer, and see if any of them fit you or your team’s skillset! At Zeitgeist of course we’re hoping we can entice you to produce some meaningful work in the governance categories, and invite you to join us on our journey of making prediction markets more widely adopted.

Remember, registration closes at 5pm on Monday 30 May Pacific Time (23h59 UTC), so don’t waste any more time in deciding if you want to participate! Check out the full rules for the Hackathon on the website here, and get in touch with us in our “Technical Support” channel on Discord if you have any questions.

We wish you all the best as you hack away at the future of Web3!
